NHS Waiting Times

Elective and diagnostic waiting times — free explorers

Two free tools to explore NHS England's official waiting-times data. Filter by Integrated Care Board, hospital provider, specialty, and diagnostic modality. No login, no tracking — the data is open and refreshes monthly.

How current is this?

RTT dataset: September 2025. DM01 dataset: September 2025. NHS England publishes each month's figures roughly 6–8 weeks after the reporting period ends, so a lag is normal.

How to read this data

RTT (Referral to Treatment) measures how long a patient waits from the day their GP or another clinician refers them, until they start their first definitive treatment. The NHS constitutional standard is that 92% of patients should be treated within 18 weeks.

DM01 measures waits for planned diagnostic tests — imaging (MRI, CT, ultrasound), physiological measurement (echo, sleep studies), and endoscopy. The operational standard is that no more than 1% should wait more than 6 weeks.

Both datasets are aggregate counts, not identifiable patient data. Figures are self-reported by trusts and validated by NHS England. Small counts (fewer than 5 patients) are sometimes suppressed for confidentiality.
